Overview

Jqbin is a free, browser-based jq playground operated by Infinite Orchard. This page explains what data we collect, what we don't collect, how third-party services on this site handle information, and the terms under which you use the tool.

How Jqbin Works

Jqbin performs all jq processing entirely within your web browser using WebAssembly. No JSON data or queries are uploaded to any server.

We do not transmit, store, cache, or log any content you provide to the tool. When the tool produces filter results, those results are generated in your browser's memory. No copies are created on any remote system.

Permalink sharing encodes your filter and JSON into the URL itself using client-side compression. The data travels in the URL fragment and is never sent to our servers.

Consent

When you first visit Jqbin, you are presented with a consent prompt. This prompt allows you to accept or decline non-essential services before they are activated. No analytics scripts, advertising scripts, or third-party cookies are loaded until you make a choice.

You can change your consent preferences at any time by clicking the consent settings link in the site footer. If you decline all non-essential services, Jqbin will function normally without analytics or advertisements.

Analytics

If you consent to analytics, Jqbin uses PostHog to collect anonymous, aggregated usage data. This includes information such as page views, session duration, and general browser and device type.

PostHog does not collect personally identifiable information. No names, email addresses, or IP addresses are stored in our analytics. If you do not consent to analytics, PostHog is not loaded and no usage data is collected.

Advertising

Jqbin is a free tool supported by advertising. We work with one or more third-party advertising networks to display ads on this site. The specific networks in use may change over time.

If you consent to advertising: Advertising partners may use cookies or similar technologies to serve relevant ads and to measure ad performance. We select partners that maintain responsible data practices and prioritize privacy-conscious, contextual advertising where available.

If you do not consent to advertising: Advertising scripts are not loaded and no ad-related cookies are set.

Ad placements are clearly separated from the tool interface. Ads are never placed on or adjacent to interactive controls.

Cookies

Jqbin itself does not set any first-party cookies for tracking purposes. The only first-party data stored locally is your consent preference and theme setting. Third-party cookies may be set by analytics or advertising services, but only after you have given consent.

Data We Do Not Collect

To be explicit, Jqbin does not collect, store, or have access to:

• Your JSON data or jq filter expressions
• Your name, email address, or any contact information
• Your IP address
• Your precise geographic location
• Any information that could identify you personally

Children's Privacy

Jqbin is a general-purpose utility tool not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.

Changes to This Page

We may update this page to reflect changes in our practices or advertising partners. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this page.

Limitation of Liability

Infinite Orchard is not liable for any damages arising from your use of Jqbin, including but not limited to data loss, incorrect output, or service interruptions.

Third-Party Services

Jqbin may include third-party analytics and advertising services. These services operate under their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for their practices.

Availability

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue Jqbin at any time without notice.

Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States. Any disputes will be resolved in courts of competent jurisdiction.

Severability

If any provision of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full effect.
